Outfit Post: Stripes and Flowers and Scars

Outfit Post: Stripes and Flowers and Scars

It’s been a long time since my last outfit post. And I don’t have a great excuse. The simplest reason is that I haven’t felt like doing one. I haven’t been inspired by my wardrobe, and I’ve been wearing the same thing a lot. This means jeans and a t-shirt, which is pretty boring, but practical. Lately I’ve been trying to get out of my rut by going through my closet and trying to get excited about the possibilities. It might also require some shopping, though even in my favorite stores I’m not seeing anything tempting. Has this ever happened to you? How did you reignite your interest in dressing?

Allow me to introduce you to my knee scar, making its debut on my blog. I have other scars from the accident, mainly where they inserted the three screws in my pelvis, but this is definitely the biggest and most public. And I’m grateful that at least my knee (mostly) works. I like to pretend that the scar gives me character, and I definitely refuse to hide it.

What’s your worst scar, and how’d you get it?

T-shirt: Allsaints men’s (old)
Skirt: J.Crew (old)
Shoes: Target (they have a ton of great slip-on sneakers right now)
Purse: Anthropologie
Watch: Nixon

  1. You are looking great! My skin makes the skin around any of my scar darker, so any mark, cut or scrape I get stays dark! My legs are covered in dark colored scars! For a long time, I never wore shorts or skirts. But now, meh. Everyone has something they hate about their body, so I got over it. I’m just glad that you are healing!

    1. Aw, thank you!
I’m sorry that your scars made you self-conscious, but I’m glad you’ve made peace with them. I bet nobody noticed them as much as you did, so you’ve got the right attitude. 🙂

  2. You look great, and you are rocking the marks of your journey well. I have a bunch of small scars, one on a finger from a Mother’s Day incident that required some stitches and pain killers…one of the most relaxed days ever after that! Hope you are well! (Oh, and getting excited about clothes again involved looking at magazines and catalogs and reinventing things I already owned!)

    1. Oh yikes, that sounds scary! I hope your next Mother’s Day is a billion times better.

      And thank you!
