Neon Painted Jewelry DIY

Remember my super chipped pink neon nailpolish I posted the other day? Part of my reason for buying that color, other than thinking that it would look cool on my fingers, was for a DIY. I don’t remember where I first saw the idea, but painting rhinestone jewelry with neon nailpolish is something I’ve been meaning to try for months. For examples, see here, here, and here. I was looking for cheap thrifted rhinestone jewelry to try it on, but I haven’t been able to find any, so I finally gave up and went to Claire’s. Most of the nailpolish I used is $1 or $2 a bottle, and available at any drugstore.

My inspiration, all from designer Tom Binns:

My version:

I also used some black nailpolish that isn’t pictured here.

The only pair of these earrings in the store was missing a dangling stone, so I removed the stone from the other one, too.

For this last pair, I was most inspired by these:

I stuck the posts into a piece of cardboard to hold them while I painted.

One or two coats of nailpolish should do the job, depending on how opaque you want your paint to be. After the colors had dried I did a topcoat to protect from fading and chipping. It was a fun little DIY project, and I can’t wait to wear my creations!
