Like everyone else, today I was transfixed by the horrible news of the school shooting in Connecticut. Combined with the nearby mall shooting in Portland a few days ago, it’s been a pretty bleak week. It’s so very sad for all of the families affected by these tragedies.
This week has been a busy one for me. I’ve been fulfilling holiday orders for my shop, and even trying to add a few new little space pouches. There are lots of DIY projects that I’ve been wanting to work on and just haven’t gotten around to during daylight hours (and if I do them at night I wouldn’t be able to get good photos). It doesn’t help that it starts to get dark here around 4:00 in the afternoon, and is pretty much pitch-black by 5. Good thing the winter solstice is coming next week (Dec. 21), so the days will start to lengthen. In the meantime, I thought I’d share some links that have caught my eye.
Months ago I bookmarked necklaces similar to these from Anthropologie, but I never got around to making them. The people at the Free People blog must’ve seen the same ones, and their version is adorable.
We actually got a holiday tree this week, and I was considering making some of these geometric ornaments to adorn it. We decided to go in a different direction with it, but I still like these.
I’m intrigued by this recipe for a peppermint white russian. It sounds like a lovely seasonal drink.
This idea for recycling old books into candle holders is so clever! It’s pretty self-explanatory, but here’s the DIY.
Dark chocolate, sea salt, and pistachios? Sign me up!
Excuse me while I go gather some branches to make a holiday door swag.
