When I first lived in Portland proper, back in the early 2000s, North Williams Avenue was not a place to hang out. There just wasn’t much there, aside from industrial buildings, and one of the first iterations of SCRAP (I remember lots of empty lots nearby). So it was pretty early in the street’s development when Ink & Peat opened here in 2008, and the area has been blossoming around them.
They’ve been changing, too. They previously had a florist shop in the back, but they recently replaced it with clothing. It’s a great addition to their large assortment of textiles, homewares, jewelry, and gifts, and I’m excited to see them refine the selection.
Seeing their creative window displays is always inspiring. Aren’t those colorful hoop weavings killer?
They’ve got the local market on colorful soaps, candles, and textiles cornered.
With piles of crystals laying around, is it any wonder I like this place?
Ink & Peat is located at 3808 N. Williams Avenue, and is open Monday through Friday 11AM to 6PM, Saturday 10AM to 6PM, and Sunday 10AM to 5PM. You can follow them on Instagram @inkandpeat.
