We’ve been doing a little bit of decorating for Halloween lately, and after I did Halloween nails I decided we needed some festive gourds, too. Not just any festive gourds, would do, though. These black glitter pumpkins are my attempt at sophisticated Halloween decor.
Materials:
Pumpkins to paint
Black spray paint (if you want a flat black, I would use this one)
Black glitter (I used some by Martha Stewart, and it was great. Now I want all the glitter!)
Newspaper or paper bags
Methods:
1. Make sure your pumpkins are clean and dry. Place them on your newsprint or paper bag and give the tops and sides a nice even coat of black spray paint. Let it dry according to the instructions on your paint.
2. Flip over your pumpkins and do the same on the bottom. Let this coat dry, too.
3. Turn your pumpkins back over and give them another coat of paint just on the surfaces that you want the glitter to stick. Then immediately sprinkle glitter onto the wet paint.
4. Let dry completely, and that’s it, you’re done!
One tiny word of warning: Try not to handle these too much, as it’s easy to accidentally scrape off the paint with a fingernail. Who needs to handle pumpkins much anyway, though? They mostly just sit around and look festive.
