Sometimes I buy craft supplies without a specific project in mind, knowing that someday I’ll figure out a use. Such is the case with the patterned leather scrap I used for this project. It’s actually a leather sample that I bought at SCRAP, and I think the perforations are perfect for this design. Any kind of patterned or plain leather would work for this, though, as long as it’s not too thick. Using recycled leather, such as from scraps, samples, or cut up from a garment, is highly encouraged, but I’ve seen small pieces of leather for sale at Joann’s and Michael’s.
Materials:
Bracelet blank
Leather (fairly thin weight, at least as long as your bracelet circumference)
Glue (the glue pictured didn’t work, I had to re-glue with E6000)
Ruler and/or measuring tape
Colored pencil or chalk
Scissors
Methods:
1. Measure the circumference and width of your bracelet blank.
2. On the back of the leather, measure and mark out these same dimensions and cut out a strip.
3. Spread a layer of glue over the surface of your bracelet blank as evenly as possible. DON’T use the glue pictured unless you want your leather to peel off. I re-did this step with E6000 and it’s holding up just fine.
4. Evenly press your leather strip to your bracelet blank, wiping away any excess glue that squeezes out on the edges. Allow to dry.
Love this! And E6000 is the bomb! (I worked at a scrapbook store and it was a favorite if you wanted something to stay put!)
It is! I only used another glue because I couldn’t find my E6000–not gonna make that mistake again.
