Bathroom Remodel Sources and a Tiny Update

Bathroom Remodel Sources and a Tiny Update

It’s taken me a while, but I’m finally back with all of the sources for our bathroom remodel, plus a little update. Right before Thanksgiving, we finally got the cabinet that I ordered in July. It was backordered when I ordered it, but every time we had almost reached the estimated shipping date, it got pushed back again. With Covid and everything, I get it, but it was still frustrating.

It’s here now though, and works perfectly. I wanted a cabinet here in the bathroom to store towels and extra toilet paper and other tall stuff that doesn’t fit in the vanity drawers. Since we don’t have any linen cabinets on this floor, this was the best solution. But it’s not a bathroom cabinet at all. Can you guess what it’s actually supposed to be used for?

It’s a bar cabinet! Who says you have to use a cabinet for its intended purpose, though? (Please don’t report me to the cabinet police.) I tried to find a vintage cabinet to put in this spot, but it’s pretty narrow, and I kept coming back to this one because it was the best fit. Plus the marble seemed like it would perfectly tie it in with the rest of the marble in this room.

Not that I’m hardly ever in the bathroom alone these days (#momlife), but maybe I should keep some cocktail supplies in here, and make myself a little bathroom drink once in a while.

I felt like I needed a stiff drink when we had to drill into the brand-new tile to attach this cabinet to the wall. It comes with anti-tip hardware, and with a toddler in the house, we definitely felt like it was important to secure it. With a carbide-tipped drill bit I had recently bought for another project, drilling through the tile went pretty smoothly. And now it’s not going anywhere.

There was one other piece of problem-solving we had to tackle with this cabinet, which was that since it’s behind the door, the doorknob could easily smack into it. Some transparent stick-on floor door-stops easily took care of that.

Now that the cabinet is in, I think we can call the bathroom completely done! Thank goodness I can stop taking pictures of my bathroom–it’s tough to photograph such a small space.

With no further ado, here are the sources for the bathroom. Let me know if I left anything out that would be helpful to you if you’re planning your own remodel!

  1. It turned out beautifully! And I agree…having a little something hidden in the cabinet might not be a bad idea. Thank you for all the links. I found some that I’m saving for when we finally tackle our bathroom!

    1. Glad you like it, Tammy! Hope your bathroom remodel goes well when you get around to it (it took us way longer than we expected to get to it, so I understand).
