I picked out the thread for the tassels on this basket to match a rug in my bedroom (this one from Ikea), but when I was putting it together I realized something weird: each one almost perfectly matches a color that features prominently in my house. Three of them are actual wall colors, and the fourth matches my giant pink lockers.
So it makes me wonder, did I subconsciously match the paint colors in my house to the ones in this rug, or was I just drawn to this rug because they’re colors I like? Chicken or egg, right?
Anyway, yeah, I’m on another tassel kick. This one doesn’t end here, either. I found another way to use tassels in jewelry, which I’ll share soon. In the meantime, here’s a good tutorial of how to make tassels from embroidery thread. Mine weren’t made exactly like this, since I actually got three tassels out of each embroidery thread skein, but I used a similar method.
Tassels are fun! They’re a good thing to make while you’re binge-watching terrible television shows while your husband is out of town. Ahem, not that I would do such a thing.
