Oh hello, and welcome to week four of the One Room Challenge. Last we left off, the bathroom had electrical and plumbing roughed in, and this week, we got walls! It looks almost like a real room again, doesn’t it?
If you’ve just arrived at DIY in PDX via the ORC blog, welcome! I’m Rachel, and I blog about everything DIY, from fixing up my old house, to making accessories and decor, to growing plants and cooking. For the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge, I’m sharing the gut renovation of the most-used bathroom in my house.
We also got a new window. Why? Well, as you can see below, the old one intersected awkwardly with the tub/shower. I confessed in week one that I used a hair clip to hold the shower curtain in front of it so water wouldn’t get on the window ledge. Definitely wanted to solve that problem.
Unlike most of the windows in the house, it was a newer vinyl window, not an original wood one. So the decision to replace it with a slimmer one wasn’t tough. We’re definitely reusing all of the original wood trim, though.
Back to the walls, though. Not all of the walls are covered with drywall at this point. There’s waterproof tile backer all around the shower, of course.
But we’re also adding tile to wainscot height around the rest of the room!
What tile, you ask? You’ll have to come back next week to find out.
We’re right on schedule for tile next week, which is going to completely transform the room!
