The other day I realized it had been a long time since I’d shared any thrift finds. Normally I just incorporate my haul into my wardrobe without any fanfare. Although I haven’t been thrifting much since I moved, recently I found a couple of things that almost made me do a happy dance in the middle of the thrift store.
With my documented love of polka-dots, I was happy to come across this silk Oleg Cassini dress.
After I brought it home and tore out the shoulder pads, I was brainstorming ways to dress it down. This girl does a great job, and with the help of Polyvore, I came up with a couple of others.
If you’re looking for your own polka-dotted dress, this one is awfully cute. Of course I don’t have most of this stuff, or, to be accurate, any of it other than the dress. (How do I get my hands on that cake?) But I do have approximations of some of it. And that’s what thrifting is partly about, for me. Finding second-hand treasures that give me the same look I saw in a magazine or on a blogger, for a fraction of what it would cost new.
Have a great weekend, and happy thrifting!
You should try Boomerangs in JP or Urban Renewals in Allston for thrifting. Both have hidden finds for really cheap- you just have to dig through piles of clothes 🙂
Diana, I’ll have to look for those, thanks! I don’t mind digging through piles, if there’s treasure to be found.
