The work of Italian-Haitian designer Stella Jean recently caught my eye on Pinterest, when I came across a pin of the outfit with the pink sweater and plaid skirt (below, on the left). When I clicked through to the rest of the lookbook, I found the mix of colors and patterns really intriguing. And the styling is just wonderful.
You can really see how she marries elements from her Haitian heritage with a more staid Italian approach. My favorite piece, though, is the jewel-encrusted plaid skirt. It’s too easy for a wool plaid skirt to be frumpy, but that one certainly isn’t.
